[size=18]The actor and Scientology follower - currently married to actress Katie Holmes - was born Thomas Cruise Mapother IV on July 3, 1962, in Syracuse, New York.The young Cruise was a wrestling champ in high school, but turned to acting following a knee injury. A struggling actor in New York, his Hollywood movie debut finally came in 1980 with an appearance in the film Endless Love.
